Caution! How
to Avoid Being Sorry for Choosing The Wrong Wedding
Photographer!
Read on to see how…
Hi! I'm Michael Thresher and
recent events have lead me to share some vital information
with all prospective brides. Regardless who you choose
to be your photographer, if you consider the following
information,
much heartache can be easily avoided.
The advent of the fully automatic
digital camera has given rise to a new breed
of "weekend" photographers who are attracting
many bridal couples with a very low price. These photographers
think professional photography is simply defined as “being
paid to take pictures”.
Let's be clear about this
- a professional is rightly defined as someone who is "proficient"
at their craft. It has nothing to do with being paid. Like
a Marine with their rifle,
a professional is one who knows the inner workings of their
equipment so well that they can handle any situation that
might arise.
This is a far cry from the new
breed of "snapshooter" who
chooses automatic on their camera, shoots a
thousand photos in a “documentary” style
(meaning no thought given to lighting, posing or composition),
then burns
a CD for
the bridal couple, laughing all the way to
the bank.
Their
business model carries with it a great delusion – that
you’re actually getting something for your money.
In reality, there is no real “commodity” exchange
for your investment. In addition there is nothing provided
by the photographer but a little of their time and a
$.50 CD. Who is the looser? The bride and groom.
I
recently chatted with a prospective bride whose sister
had hired one of these “snapshooters” for her
wedding. The price was really low and all they received
was a CD
of 700 snapshots. Got a few $.29 prints of the ones
they sort of liked, but basically they felt very disappointed.
As we talked, it became apparent that she
thought ALL photographers just did
CD's,
and that her sister had simply made a bad choice. When
we showed her what we provide, she realized that her sister
had never investigated real professional photography at
all, and saw a whole new world of possibilities. I decided
right
then
to share
these
thoughts with as many prospective brides as possible.
Of
course, we can provide a DVD
too. Our wedding services include a "purchase
reserve" that
can be spent however you like. But is using it for electronic
images
a wise choice? How does a beautiful wedding album that
captures the story of your wonderful day from beginning
to end, balance against a few department store
4x6’s?
Or worse yet, many brides just load the images onto their
computer
and forgo actual photographs altogether! Is your wedding
as a background to you desktop all you want? I sure hope
not! Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but providing exquisitely
enhanced
gift prints,
albums,
and
wall portraits is the fundamental reason clients should
always choose a truly professional wedding photographer.
It
ultimately comes down to value – does what you pay
truly balance with what you receive?
At River Street Photography,
your initial investment may be slightly more, but the return
on that investment is HUGE, and that’s where real
value is. We made a decision years ago that only the finest
work would depart through our studio doors and thousands
of our clients are the winners because of that decision.
I encourage you to not make the mistakes we see so many
bridal couples make: choosing a cheap snapshooter,
thinking that a CD is all you need. There
is
really so much more! Nothing can compare to beautifully
created professional portraits.
So
before you make such an important decision, call us to
chat - no cost and no obligation. You'll be able to see
what experienced photographic artists can create and you'll
be able to make an educated decision.
Some
people say that you get what you pay for. I disagree – there
are many wedding couples today who are getting little or
nothing for what they pay. Don’t let that happen
to you!
